From the article: The price of gold is a referendum on the quantity and quality of paper money and, like the canary in the coal mine, it is signaling a warning: there's trouble with the dollar reserve standard. Around the world the alert are looking for ways to abandon it.

As we continue to print and monetize our own debt, we have essentially said to the world we no longer have the ability to pull ourselves out of this spending death spiral.

    If we stop spending our grand childrens money the dollar will rebound.

    Can't see either party doing that.

    Is gold going to hit $2000 - doubt it. Will it hit $1200 and level off - probably.
